Mosey your way.
Take the scenic route.

Walk New York the scenic way. Mosey Maps finds greener, safer, sunny or shaded walking routes and recommends places from real reviews.

Route options for a walk from Vessel to Cherry Lane Theatre: fastest, safe, scenic, shaded or sunny, with a max-detour setting

The prettiest route
isn't the long way.

Pick how you want to walk, then set how far you'll wander for it. Every mode reads the street differently: safe routes favour well-lit, well-travelled blocks and steer away from dark, empty ones and from streets with more arrest records; scenic ones lean toward parks, water and tree cover, and steer clear of construction. Either way, Mosey stays inside your detour budget.

  • Five ways to walk — fastest, safe, scenic, shaded, or sunny.
  • A detour budget you set — the nicest path, never the long way round.

Walk in the shade. Or chase the sun.

Mosey knows where the sun actually falls — block by block, hour by hour. It models the city's buildings and its living tree canopy to route you through the shade on a scorching July afternoon, or into the light on a crisp winter walk.

  • Shaded & sunny routes from real sun position and shadows.
  • "In the sun now" — find the patios that are actually lit.

Discover New Places.

Stop relying on a star average. Read a place in plain English before you go — what it's like, what to order, when to show up — or just ask, in your own words.

  • Categories and cuisine filters — narrow a busy map to what you're after.
  • Search by chat — describe the day you want, get real places back.
  • Ranked best-of lists by category — the best pizza, the best cocktail bars, the best Thai.

Bring your saved places with you.

Share a Google Maps list, an Instagram post or a TikTok video to Mosey from the share sheet. Mosey finds the places it names and hands you the list to look over — nothing is saved until you say so.

  • Google Maps lists, Instagram posts, TikTok videos — share them straight to Mosey.
  • Mosey finds the places the post names and matches them to the real venue.
  • You decide what is saved — nothing lands on your map until you add it.
  • The notes come too — what the post or list says about a place is saved as your private note.

Community-Driven Ratings.

Been somewhere? Say how it was in a tap — liked it, it was fine, didn't — then pick between two places you've actually been to. L'Artusi or Misi? Every answer shapes a smarter, more authentic map for everyone.

  • Your circle, not strangers — narrow ratings down to the friends whose taste you actually trust.
  • Compared like for like — pasta against pasta, never pasta against a steakhouse. Five-star ratings flatten every good place into the same number; a head-to-head keeps the difference.
  • Rate the street as you walk — safe, pretty, shaded, busy — and help count how busy each block is by hour.

Common questions

Questions, answered.

What is Mosey Maps?

An iPhone app for walking New York City that plans routes by how you want to walk (fastest, safe, scenic, shaded or sunny) and recommends places using review-grounded summaries and a 1–10 Mosey rating.

Is Mosey free?

Yes. Mosey AI (the in-app chat and imports) has one daily allowance, shown as a percentage. There is nothing to buy in the app.

Is it on the App Store?

Not yet — the app is in public beta on TestFlight; the site's buttons link to the invite.

Which cities does Mosey cover?

New York City, all five boroughs. Other cities are not open.

Is there an Android app?

No — iOS only.

How is Mosey different from Google Maps?

Google optimises for the fastest route and shows a five-star average. Mosey optimises for the walk you actually want — scenic, safe, shaded or sunny — inside a detour budget you set, and describes places in plain English with a like-for-like 1–10 rating rather than a borrowed star average.

How is Mosey different from Yelp or Beli?

Mosey rates within a category rather than across all restaurants, and its summaries are written from real reviews rather than being a score. It is also a navigator, not only a discovery list.

Can I use Mosey inside ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, via the Mosey connector at https://chat.mosey.world — search places, get walking directions, find what's in the sun, and save places and lists from the chat. It does not draw a map inside the conversation.

Who answers the in-app chat?

Mosey's own assistant, running on a third-party model provider (DeepSeek). ChatGPT and Claude are hosts for the connector, not the app's model.

I run a restaurant or bar — how do I appear on Mosey?

See https://places.mosey.world.
